Canadian Astronomy The You will find, on this website, a plethora of materials
to help you as a teacher encorporate Canadian astronomy into your lessons.
To get you started, below you'll find a list of the relevant Pan-Canadian
protocol expectations, along with links to different parts of the site
referencing that expectation. Keep in mind that not all expectations will
need to be taught within any given course! You will have to check with
your SPAC-06-106.03: describe examples of improvements to the tools and techniques of scientific investigation that have led to new discoveries (e.g., describe examples, such as the lunar buggy, the Canadarm, the Hubble telescope, and space probes, which have extended scientific knowledge)
SPAC-06-107.12: provide examples of Canadians who have contributed to science and technology (e.g., provide examples of Canadian astronauts such as Steve McLean, Marc Garneau, Roberta Bondar and Chris Hadfield) SPAC-06-107.15: describe scientific and technological achievements that are the result of contributions by people from around the world (e.g., describe international contributors related to the construction of the space station) EXPL-09-112.06: provide examples of how Canadian research projects in science and technology are supported (e.g., provide examples such as government involvement in the development and use of communication satellites, and the private- and public-sponsored research experiments carried out as part of space shuttle missions)
EXPL-09-112.11: describe examples of science- and technology-based careers in Canada, and relate these careers to their studies in science (e.g., describe examples such as astronauts, astrophysicists, materials technologists, pilots, and computer programmers)
